Alamak Chat Rules
The rules on this chat site were developed over time by the users of
Alamak and is not imposed abitrarily by the chat administration.
Concerned users who support the chat called Operators special
commands to kick or ban users who wish to disrupt your chatting.
We do realize that some Operators do not always exercise their power
fairly but do our best to track down the worst abusers and penalize
or remove their accounts.
 Advertising
Use of the chat or other pages at this site for commercial or
non-commercial promotion or advertisement without prior
written agreement by Alamak is prohibited.
Advertisment, posting of links to other chat sites, or pages
which are a summary of other chat sites or competing services
in public or private is grounds for, ban, deop, and permanent
account removal! Please report these to us as soon as possible.
There are some sites out there, that go as far as to copy our
chat format, command set, concept of Operator membership, and policy
pages with little or no change. As we think of and add new commands
and features to Alamak, they copy and follow along exactly.
Many of the owners of these chat sites are X-alamak chatters who
have decided to start their own business. Suing for copyright
infringement would be difficult and more costly than the possible
financial settlement.
Occaisonally, these sites try to maliciously garner more users,
come onto Alamak and try to convince our users to switch over with
offers of greater power or offer incentives to get their users to
come onto Alamak and get our users to switch over. This is highly
un-ethical since it is using our own resources to undermine our
business and we will not permit it.
Flooding
Rapidly or repeatedly posting excessively long, duplicate, single
character or word per line messages, or excessive random garbage
is termed flooding and is grounds for a kick or ban.
Harrassment
Hostile, insulting, or harrassing behavior is not allowed.
A user who continues to send messages to and/or make comments about
another user after being asked to stop can be accused of harrassment
and be kicked or banned from the chat.
Repeatedly asking for cybersex is not allowed or asking for
cybersex in any of the Teens rooms is not allowed.
Reposting of private messages in public is rude and is grounds for
kicking. If you do not like the private messages a person is sending and
continue to send after you have asked them to stop you can /forward them
to an Operator. Or better yet just /ig ignore them.
Ganging Up on an Operator
Publically or privately accusing an Operator of unfair behavior, or asking
them to justify their actions is reason for a kick or ban. If an Operator is
acting unfairly, make a report using the appropriate Abuse section of the
Contact Us Page. The exception to this
rule are the Committee and the System Admin. who can question any Operator
of thier actions.
Operators are not allowed to use their power or greater level to ridicule,
disparage, or threaten other users or lower level Operators. If you do so, you
will be permanently dropped to level 1 or have your account removed.
Abuse of the Bulliten Board
The Bulletin Board where you can leave messages for other users with the /post
command. All users can see the Board with the /read command. This is a public
forum and the Board is for enjoyment, not to quarrel, insult, harrass, threaten,
or complain. If you have complaints about Alamak, use the
Contact Us Page
and if you have complaints about other Operators you can also use the
Contact Us Page Abuse Section.
If you abuse the board you may be /deop'ed or your account suspended indefinitely. If
you publically disparage Alamak, claim unfairness, or otherwise slander Alamak on the
board you may have your account removed. All complaints can be addressed directly to
us on the Contact Us Page where they will recieve prompt attention.
If you post excessively or make attempts to flush postings off the board you can
be suspended or deopped for up to 2 weeks. Postings can be specifically removed by
the committee on request.
Hacking
Hacking is an illegal activity and promotion or speaking favorably for hacking
and hackers is a kickable offense. Distribution of hacking programs, links to
hacking sites, or hacking in any form is not allowed and if caught you can be
kicked or banned and if an Operator your account may be removed.
Slander of Alamak
We do our best to provide fair and good service. If you have a complaint about Alamak you
can use the Contact Us Page.
If you come onto the chat line and complain about unfairness in the level system or in
any other way disparage Alamak Chat ( like saying "Alamak Sucks" or "Some other chat is
better" ) you can be kicked or banned. If an Operator the account may also have the
level dropped or be suspended or removed.
We do welcome positive feedback in the Contact Us Page telling us how we can improve
service to you.
Lack of Cooperation with Policies
Occaisionally Committee, the Admin, or Operators may message some chatter about
behavior which is objectional. If the chatter is rude back and/or puts on thier /ig
the chatter can be kicked or banned for refusing to cooperate.
The chatter in this case has put the responsible person in a no-win situation since
with an /ig they can not message the chatter to resolve the problem. When the chatter
returns the /ig list will be clean and the responsible person can again continue with
the discussion and hopefully a more cooperative chatter.
The only exception here is if it's an Operator who is in fact abusing the rules
and harrassing the chatter.
Pornography
Users and Ops are not allowed to publically post links or pass out
the URL to pornographic sites or sites with sex related content.
Language
Use of vulgar nickname or language on the chat is prohibited and since there is a
notice on the user login page of these policies no warning should be required and you
will be banned. We have many underage users on the chat so conversation in "public" rooms
must be acceptable to all parents of such children. Please think before you type.
Language policies apply to all public rooms. A room is public
if it is not locked or if it is advertised in public rooms or if Operator
summons in unknown persons on their request.
Words like hell, damn, pissed, or ass are acceptable unless they are used
in insulting context.
As an example saying "my job sucks" is acceptable while using the word
"suck" in other contexts may be grounds for a /kick or /ban.
The words like "fuck" or derivatives, abreviations, substitutions ( as long
as we know what you mean ) as well as words and phrases describing gentalia or
actions performed on gentalia are not allowed in any languages or dialects. For
example the abreviations "KNN" and "CCB" would not be acceptable because they
are recognizable abreviations of vulgarities in Hokkien.
In English a good example would be "fuk" and "f*ck" both with are derivations of
the word "fuck" or abreviations.
Drug Talk and Illegal Activities
Drug talk, drug nicks, and promotion of drug related activities is not allowed
in Alamak Chat and users can be kicked or banned. What you say in private is
private but as soon as there is a complaint they you are responsible.
The same rule applies to promotion of illegal activities of any kind. It is not
allowed and you can be kicked or banned from the chat.
Kick and Ban Rules
Kicking for CAPS is not allowed.
Kicking for GHOST nicks is not allowed, no exceptions, many users come on posing
that they have gotten disconnected to get another user they don't like kicked off or they
want to get the nick the other users has. Only Operators can reserve nicks and Ops
shouldn't help regular users to steal a nick away from someone who had it first that day.
Kicking IMPERSONATION or similiar nicks is not allowed unless it is a clear case
of harrassment. If the second nick is allowed by the server the other person has a right
to use it unless they are harrassing someone on the chat. In the case of harrassment,
ban for harrassment, don't kick for impersonation.
VULGARITY OR HARRASSMENT IN PM now has two rules for two situations and one
condition that must be met for both rules.
(1) If it is the Operator who recieves the vulgarity or harrassment in pm the
Operator can kick or ban the person for the reason "harrassment". Anyone who kicks
for this reason may be asked at any time by a Committee to support thier action by
forwarding thier pm's to the Committee member for review. Please provide it promptly
without question, thanks.
(2) If it is the another person who requests a kick or ban for harrassment or
vulgarity in pm, the person lodging the complaint must provide evidence with a /forward
to you before you are allowed to kick or ban. If the accuser can not provide evidence it
is still suggested you as the accused what is going on? Again, the condition, that the
Operator involved may be asked at any time by a Committee to support their action by
forwarding the /forward to the Committee member for review.
KICK OR BAN FOR C-SEX REQUESTS
If a user asks for c-sex in public they can be kicked after the first warning.
If they ask for c-sex in a Teens or underage room, they can be kicked or
banned. Asking for c-sex in pm is allowed if both parties are of age of consent
in their region.
If a user asks for c-sex in pm, consider that the person did ask rather than just
talking dirty straight off. If you are not interested give them a firm "no and
don't bother me with it again". If they continue then you can ban them for
harrassment by one of the two rules above. You will need evidence by a /forward if
this is request from another user and a Committee may ask you to show the evidence as
stated above. The only exceptions here would be the Teen rooms, where it's clearly
a good idea to kick for asking for c-sex from users who are likely to be under legal
age.
Kick and Ban Wars / Revenge Activity
Operators engaging in revenge activities or kick or ban wars with other
Operators is grounds for a /deop by committee and possibly permanent
account removal by the office.
Administrator Fakes
If you are found being online and pretending or using an nick that tries to make
you look like someone who works for Alamak, and you do not. You can be kicked, banned,
deopped, de-registered, deopped, and suspended. To the fullest extent possible.
If you attempt to play around and get other peoples passwords or session ID's
the same will happen. We don't take this lightly and it's not a joke to us.
Promoting hacking, hacking, anything related which could cause security problems,
or damage or disrupt other users chatting by interfering with others computer can
expect to be penalized to the fullest of our ability as outlined above. This includes
winuke, sniffing, or anything we deem unfriendly or involved in denial of service or
damage.
Admin. Exception
The Alamak administrator(s), are except from any and all of these rules.
You can notify the office politely of what you feel is
inappropriate behavior and we'll have ourselves properly flogged. Basically,
the administrator(s) do not want to be harrassed by anyone for what is obviously
appropriate action. Typically ganging up an the admin. would result in more kicking
and banning, without warning, and is not advised. Currently, only John falls under the
administrator catagory but lately he's been too busy working on Alamak projects be in
the chat frequently. It is possible that other administrators will be will be
added from the developers group or office staff at a later time. Administrators,
can and will deop or suspend accounts if there is reason and can come on under any
nickname. But, don't believe everyone who says they are an Alamak Admin. there's alot
of fakes out there and never give out your password online.
