Alamak Operator Levels
Operator Levels are not guarenteed by Alamak or in any way part of the Ops agreement. We reserve the right to alter the level system in any way or change an individuals level for any reason. It is our policy that levels do not affect the ability of a normal Operator to chat and have fun and therefore not an important aspect of the service here. We instrinsically try to discourage users who are interested in what we see as power climbing.
The level system was originally installed so that existing Ops could not be kicked and banned by new Ops who's only purpose to sign up was to get revenge on some Op they didn't like. This was later expanded to give committee special powers to do /ublock /unban /ban /deop /restore and so on. We are aware that this time based ranking system has some serious drawback since it doesn't really reflect the fairness of a particular Operator, but we feel the need to give special perks to those who continue to support the system.
Abusive Ops are handled by either server /deop (less serious), level drop (you abuse you loose policy), or a Alamak wide suspension of account (more serious). If an Operator abuses they will be suspended irregardless of level, and if serious enough the account may be removed permanently.
Upgrades of level are now handed by a program and it time based. The total number of levels may be adjusted to provider finer ranking at a later date but the net effect will be to prevent kick and ban of Ops who've been around longer.
If your account expires, your level will not increase while expired, and your account and level may be removed all together my a routine system purge and we will not restore your level when you sign up again, sorry.
Level 900+ - System Admin
Commands like shutdown, system performance and so on ... all lower commands.
Level 800+ - Office Staff
No special commands as of yet.
Level 600+ - Committee

Committee are chosen by appointment usually after a trial period as level 500. Most people are never chosen to be on Committee, there just aren't enough free slots available and it's hard work anyway.
Can ban lower level Operators and unban any ban, /ublock all bans at once, /deop /restore Ops. Any commands of lower levels.
Level 500+ - Sub Committee

Chosen by appointment and can be chosen from any other level. Most people are never chosen to be on Sub Committee, there just aren't enough free slots available and it's hard work anyway.

Level 400+ - X-Committee

X-Committee are eligible for level 400 status as appreciation for past service as long as they were retired without incident.
Can unban their own bans and use the /id command to identify other Operators. They can also use the /clear to clean a room with vulgarity,
Receive notice of all kicks and bans attempts against them. Any commands of lower level.
Access to the /id to command to get real nick and level of other Operators.
Level 4+ - Senior Ops

Awarded after 8 months of continuous membership without serious incident.
Upgraded every 3 monthts to next level. Can ban all user of lower level. Can /unban their own ban and receive notice of all kicks and bans on the server. This notice can be toggled off with the /log command. Any commands of lower level than 3.
Access to the /id command to get the real nick of other Operators as well as full /id of themselves.
Level 3 - Trusted Ops

Awarded after 5 months of continuous membership without serious incident.
Can ban 2,1 and regular users. Can /unban their own bans.
Level 2 - Experienced Ops

Awarded after 2 months without serious incident.
Can kick and ban level 1 Ops, and regular users and unban their own bans.
Level 1 - Basic Ops
These are starting Ops. Can kick and ban other regular users. Run all global Ops commands like /color /give and so on. Operator membership does not guarentee that level 1 Ops will ever be upgraded but unless the level system is changed or there is an abuse problem upgrade should proceed as usual.
Access to the /id command to get full /id of themselves with level, but no /id of other Operators.
